2020 Christmas Music For Practicing At Home
Here are the files for this year’s Christmas music. We are hoping to have SOME sort of Christmas celebration/program with our students. We are not at all sure what it will look like yet, due to Covid-19 and such. However, in whatever situation, the students will need to have learned some music. I am linking the music and the lyrics files below. Please note that I do not intend for these to be distributed to those outside of DeKalb Elementary School. This is for extending the classroom for the benefit of students, and I do not want to abuse that.
This year’s music is a mix of familiar traditional religions and secular music. Students have enjoyed learning some of the traditions and origins of the holiday season. I hope you enjoy listening to these songs with your children. Merriest of Christmases to you all!

Veteran’s Day Program 2019
Fourth Grade students will be singing in the Veteran’s Day program on Monday, November 11th at 10:00. If possible, students should dress in patriotic colors (red, white, and blue) for their performance. This is an important event, and I want students to be prepared. Below are the lyrics and an MP3 file for the song. The MP3 track is property of DeKalb ISD and is for listening/practicing purposes only for DeKalb Elementary students.
Armed Forces Medley MP3
LYRICS:
The Marines Hymn
From the Halls of Montezuma
To the shores of Tripoli
We fight our country's battles
In the air, on land, and sea;
First to fight for right and freedom
And to keep our honor clean;
We are proud to claim the title
Of United States Marine.
Our flag's unfurled to every breeze
From dawn to setting sun;
We have fought in every clime and place
Where we could take a gun.
In the snow of far-off Northern lands
And in sunny tropic scenes;
You will find us always on the job --
The United States Marines.
The Caissons Go Rolling Along
Over hill, over dale
As we hit the dusty trail,
And those Caissons go rolling along.
Counter march and right about,
Hear those wagon soldiers shout
And the Caissons go rolling along.
For it's hi! hi! hee!
In the field artillery,
Shout out your numbers loud and strong,
And where'er we go,
You will always know
That those Caissons are rolling along.
Over hill, over dale
As we hit the dusty trail,
And those Caissons go rolling along.
Counter march and right about,
Hear those wagon soldiers shout
And the Caissons go rolling along.
For it's hi! hi! hee!
In the field artillery,
Shout out your numbers loud and strong,
And where'er we go,
You will always know
That those Caissons are rolling along.
Anchors Aweigh
Stand Navy out to sea,
Fight our battle cry;
We'll never change our course,
So vicious foe steer shy-y-y-y.
Roll out the TNT,
Anchors Aweigh.
Sail on to victory
And sink their bones to Davy Jones, hooray!
Wild Blue Yonder (Air Force Song)
Off we go into the wild blue yonder,
Climbing high, into the sun,
Here they come zooming to meet our thunder,
At ’em boys, Give’er the gun!
Down we dive, spouting our flame from under,
Off with one terrible roar!
We live in fame, or go down in flame,
Nothing’ll stop the U.S. Air Force!
Off we go into the wild sky yonder,
Keep the wings level and true,
If you’d live to be a grey haired wonder,
Keep your nose out of the blue!
Flying men, guarding the nation’s border,
We’ll be there, followed by more,
In echelon we carry on,
Nothing’ll stop the U.S. Air Force!

Congratulations to all the ribbon winners from DeKalb Elementary! Your participation in the Oktoberfest Art Show was phenomenal! Every year, you WOW my heart with your creativity and effort. Our students are AMAZING!
I want to give a special shout-out to our fourth grade classes, whose collaborative art work won best of show and was actually SOLD to a local artist. I am super excited that someone else sees and appreciates your talents as much as I do already. Awesome job!
Here's a picture of me with the artwork. It's a goofy picture, that would've been much better without me and with students. But, alas, my sister took it, and it's all I have of the artwork.

Recently, all of our classes have been studying color schemes. We used Andy Warhol as an inspiration, and it was a sucess! The students created some crazy cool artwork.
