Vision Statement

As a DeKalb High School counselor, I will empower all students to reach their goals by using a comprehensive program that touches on academic, personal, social and career success.  I believe that through the collaborative efforts of DHS, home and our community every student can succeed.

Provide opportunities to research, discuss and explore career goals while providing them with avenues to achieve their success, thus enabling them to become productive citizens.

Meet Mrs. Lea Dooley.

“I am a 1996 graduate of DeKalb High School. I received my bachelors degree from Texas A&M University-College Station in 2000 and returned home to begin my career. After teaching for nine years and earning my master’s degree in school counseling from Texas A&M-Texarkana, I became the high school counselor in July of 2009.  

I love working with the students and am proud to call DeKalb home!”

Meet Ms. Kayla Wicker.

“I am a 2005 graduate of Fouke High School in Fouke, Arkansas. I recieved my bachelors degree from Ouachita Baptist University in 2009 and returned to teach at Fouke High School. I moved to DeKalb in 2019 and began teaching English.. I earned my master’s degree from Texas A&M University – Commerce in 2022 and became the College & Career Advisor in 2023. I love working at DeKalb, and am so glad to have found my home here.”
